2008 Dedicated to Kyle
I would like to dedicate this year to Kyle who founded Pathfinderzz ATV Club back in September 1998. At the time it had no name. The first newsletter was printed on Sept. 26, 1998 and the first ride was out at 5 Mile Pass . This club has been Kyle’s passion second only to his family. This year will be hard on our family to continue on with the club but we know that is what he would want us to do.
We had our planning meeting on the 27th of March. I’d like to thank Dave Parduhn for the use of his store and for supplying the refreshments. We made the decision to plan the first few months for now. I would like to ask you to think of any rides you might want to take this year that you would be willing to plan and lead. If you would be interested in being in charge of a ride let me know. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please take a look at the 2008 ride schedule for the rides we have planned so far.
April 12 5 Mile Pass/Eureka
May 2-3 Moab Memorial Ride
June 13-14 WhiteWash ?????
July 11-12 Manti/Mayfield
August 16 Hobble Creek to Daniels Summit
Sept-Nov Not Yet Planned
5 Mile Pass/Eureka
W e will be starting this ride on the south side of the highway across the street from the main parking area for 5 Mile Pass. Chris Brimhall has volunteered to lead us on this ride. We will meet there at 9:00 am to begin this ride. Chris tells me that this ride is over 100 miles round trip. We will be eating lunch in Eureka and you will also be able to buy fuel there. Having said that, I think it would be a good idea to have some extra fuel with you along with plenty of water and something to munch on just in case. Also respect the weather….be prepared for anything…after all we should all know what it is like in Utah in the spring….unpredictable! For those of you who don’t know where 5 Mile Pass is, go west on main street in Lehi towards Cedar Fort. Go past Cedar Fort and Fairfield . Just before you get to the Tooele county line you will see on your right the 5 Mile Pass parking area. There are usually OHVs and trucks and trailers there. We will be across the highway from that staging area. Feel free to email me or call me with any questions. 801-360-2551.
P lease make a note of May’s Moab ride. We will be doing a Memorial ride in honor of Kyle to Top of the World where we will be tossing the dried flowers from his funeral off the cliff in his honor. We would love to have as many of you as can participate in this. This was suggested to me by one of our members and it sounded like a great idea so we’re going to do that in May.
As you can see by the 2008 schedule, we are a little undecided about where to ride in June. We are kind of waiting to see how the weather is shaping up temperature wise. We are considering doing the Chutes, out near White Wash area, one last time before the BLM closes it to ATVs. The San Rafael Swell is also a consideration. We are still open to suggestions about where you would like to ride in June.
Your input would be appreciated for ideas for the Sept-Nov rides. It was suggested at the meeting that we might want to do a multiple day ride where we would stay in a different town each night down around the Bryce and Paiute trail areas. We may want to consider doing this one month and not do a ride on another month or just do a day ride closer to home. Let me know how you feel about this.
I have started the 2007 ATV Video. I’m really close to about half done. Sorry for the delay on this. Let me know if you’re interested in having one. This will be a 2 disc video and will cost $15.00 again this year.
Check it Out
Don’t forget to check our web page for new pictures and videos. I add videos of interest that I run across every once in awhile. I have recently categorized the blog so you can find what you’re interested in easier. Just look at categories and click on what your want to check out. You can find the web page at http://pathfinderzz.spaces.live.com .
Another site to check out is www.atvutah.com . They have a lot of interesting things there. Make sure to check out the forums also. I have met some pretty neat atv enthusiast on that site and gathered some interesting info on other areas to ride both in Utah and other states.
Thank you for your continued support. Also, We’d like to thank all of you who supported us at Kyle’s funeral by participating in the ATV procession. It was awesome! We’re sure Kyle was pleased and overwhelmed as were we as a family at your willingness to participate. We’d also like to thank all of you who have called, dropped by, emailed us to express your love and concern for us. Thank you for all of the cards, flowers, plants and the financial donations. They have all been very greatly appreciated.
